Updates from the Collab Office - April 2026

This month, we wanted to share a few important state updates. 

CLASS 

On March 5, 2026, the California Department of Education released the final regulations for “Strengthening Teacher-Child Interactions and Supporting Quality Improvement in the California State Preschool Program Regulations (also known as CLASS Regulations)” which will go into effect on April 1, 2026. View the Final Regulations, and the Final Statement of Reasons.

DRDP 

Effective July 1, 2026, the following programs will be required to implement the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP 2025): 

• General Child Care and Development (CCTR)
• Migrant General Child Care and Development (CMIG)
• Family Child Care Home Education Networks (CFCC)
• Child Care and Development Programs for Children with Special Needs (CHAN)
• California State Preschool Program (CSPP)

DRDP 2025 to Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (HSELOF) Document

In the coming year, the CA Head Start Collaboration Office will be creating an updated version of the DRDP-to-HSELOF document for Head Start-funded programs in California to have access to.
